Hollinger Happenings

Another couple of days have passed so it is time to share with you some Hollinger Happenings. Nick is doing great. He seems to enjoy his location, for what it is. He actually said it was not quite bad. He does miss the everyday family noises. That is one thing that is hard there for him. There are no children on base, so the sounds we sometimes take for granted, people in deployed locations miss. He is encouraged by everyone's emails so please keep them coming. He tells me every time we talk who he has received emails from. He sent me a couple of pictures of his room to share with everyone. It's not what I would want to call home for months on end. Today I gave my first puppet show. It was fun. My arm and voice got a workout. The puppet show was for Sunday School and it was on Salvation, Salesman Style. Thank God for Google!! I went to lunch with some friends after church today. We went to a Mexican Resturaunt and one gentleman ordered a fish. There is a before and after picture that I will post. It is quite humorous. The kids are doing great. Jake is excited because some of his friends are home from a nice Hawaiian Vacation. Anyone who doesn't know what DB means curious yet? HAHAHA! Love, DB.

Pictures from the weekend!

Hello, It's me again.

Well, things have been very busy here the last several days. Nick has finally made it to his final destination. For those of you who don't know he is in Iraq. Anyone wanting contact information, please email me personally. I am not going to post that info on a public blog. I am finally caught up in all my classes. Yeah!!! It feels like I can breath again. Last Friday I met with some sister's from the church for lunch. We had a great time. I was being interviewed for the church newsletter. Friday night the kids had a sleepover with some friends from church and the kids played Twister. Saturday I gave a speech on Credit Card Debt for my speech class. It went over very well. Then I went shopping. I haven't been shopping in over a year. It was fun. I had several kids with me, but they were all troopers and we had a good time. Afterwards, I treated them to McDonald's and they loved that! Sunday, after church, I went to lunch with some friends from church. It was a great time. They all love Jake and Jake loves all the attention. Looks like Jake might have pink eye or something-itis. It has been bothering him for a couple of days now. He is on antibiotic eye drops. If he is not better by Friday I have to take him back in. Kortney has been having wrist problems off and on this summer. After several appointments, we are now seeing a physical therapist who thinks that a bone is her hand is a bit loose. How that happened we have no idea. We have about 20 sessions and she should be back on track. Well, that catches me up to today. Please pray I get some sleep. I tend to not sleep when Nick is gone. Please keep Nick in your prayer's. TTFN-DB.

The Pictures

I don't know why the pictures didn't post on the last entry, so here they are. DB!!

Update!!

Well, Nick is stuck at his current location for a few days. He should be at his final destination soon. He is having problems with a leg of his flight. He is safe and bored. So bored he bought a new vehicle. I received an email today that said "DO NOT DELETE, FROM YOUR HUSBAND!!" My thought was, "What is this?". Well, it was a car purchase invoice. Luckily, he called me shortly after I got the email and told me that it was not a purchase, it was a quote, and asked me if I liked it. Because of his military status and his deployed location, they gave him a really good deal on a 2007 Ford Focus. I will attach a picture to this blog. Cheapest new card we have ever been able to purchase. Looks like we should get it in February. It has to be built.

On another note, the kids had parent-teacher conferences yesterday. They both are doing great. Kortney's teacher said she loved having Kortney is class and that Kortney is a great help with helping other students. She has 1 B+ and all the rest of her grades are A's. She is doing really well with her spelling and vocabulary words. Jakob has all A's too. He is already reading chapter books. He is a bit hyper in class, but we have worked out a plan to redirect his excess energy. He seems to be doing really well with spelling words as well.

School is moving along for me. I have a big test tomorrow. So I have to study hard tonight. I missed most of last week, so I have some catching up still to do. Jake is on his way to bed very shortly and I am going to hit the books. Because Nick is gone, I think that next semester I am only going to take online classes. That way I won't have to miss any classes if anything unexpected comes my way.

Please pray for my mother-in-laws brother. My mother-in-laws name is Bonnie. They found some disturbing news with her brother's health. So, if you could keep him in your prayers, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'll post some pictures of the kids as well. I have pictures of the kids with their teacher on the phone, but I don't know how to send it to my email address. So I took these last night. Have a great evening everyone!! Signing off for now, DB!

Heard from Nick!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I heard from Nick tonight and he is doing well. He is not to his destination yet, but he called to let me know that all is well. It will probably be several days until I hear from him so please keep him in your prayers. I had fun with the kids tonight. After dinner and baths we played a game called PayDay. It was a lot of fun and easy for Jake to play. It was nice sitting around relaxing with the kids. Jake and I played as a team and we won. Kortney was a good sport. Especially when Jake started rubbing it in her face. Well, I will post a few more pictures. I better go so I can do some homework. I have a big test this week.

I'm Back!!!

Well I am back. I know that when I was in Japan I started a blog. However, due to the swift move back to the states due to Jake's health, I haven't touched it since I left Japan. Now I am starting over fresh with a new site. First, I want to say that Jake is doing great. He is off all of his medications and hasn't had an asthma episode since we have moved. Yes, many of you do not know that we have moved from Japan to California recently. Jakob's lungs did not like the pollution over in Japan so the military moved us back here to the states. Things have been crazy since we arrived. I am just now getting a bit of spare time to write. I have gone back to school to get my teaching certificate. It has been a lot of fun. The kids have started school again. They are keeping my busy with homework and extra curricular's. I guess the main reason for me writing a blog again is because Nick just deployed. It was short notice therefore no one really knows yet. Now you all know. He will be gone for about 4 months. So, I wanted to use this blog to keep everyone informed about Nick and keep him informed of what is going on here. Nick and I celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversay this last week. So, I thought I'd post my favorite picture from our 10th Wedding ceremony that we had last year. Please keep Nick in your prayers. Check back often for updates. We love and miss you all. And for those of you who know the joke behind DB, check out the title of my web page. HA!HA!HA! God Bless. Danielle.
